Miss baseball was asked about playing on a softball team, I have to say I declined as my fielding abilities are still in question. That got me thinking. Softball is not baseball. I have much respect for the fine women who bust their ass playing Softball.

There was no Mo’ne Davis in our day and the rules were quite strict no one who was any shape or form of a girl could play baseball. Only softball. I played a season of softball and minus my horrible fielding abilities it was a different game.

Plus I have to admit I am scared of the softball, a giant grapefruit is coming at you. My natural instinct is to run away. While a baseball is the size of an orange and doesn’t fill me with fright.

I like hardball, I know hardball and I can actually catch and hit a hard ball, not well but a whole hell of a lot better than a softball. I do think that it is unfair that baseball is a boy sport, I am not asking for the AGBL to be brought back (oh but if you do, I am so going to learn how to play and actually play ball. I have to do it) I’m just saying that if a girl wants to play baseball with the boys let her.
