Here is a little birthday present to me. I have been his fan for ten years. I met him in double A. He was a Tulsa Driller, I was a San Antonio Missions fan. My Ranger love triumphed all that. His brother was an outfielder for the Rangers. So when Jayson came to San Antonio, I had to give younger brother some proper Ranger Fandom. I sat behind home plate and cheered for him only him. There was a lot to cheer for he went 4 for 5 that day.
After the Drillers won, I went to go get and autograph. He was so happy that I was cheering for him. He stole my baseball heart. That place where a fan has a favorite.
I can’t tell you why, I cheer for him. I have followed his career all these years and when I see him up to bat, I close my eyes and we are back at Wolf Stadium ( Home to the San Antonio Missions) I can still remember my cheers and my screams for him. It was hard to cheer for him years later as a Yankee. I did it because true fans never stop believing.
I’m Miss Baseball and I know this last year wasn’t his best year. I still hope and I still cheer. I’m still and will always be his fan.
